2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe Review: The Hot Babe In a Sexy Halloween Cat Outfit

Firstly, let's address the gorgeous elephant in the room: the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe is one of the best-looking cars to come out of the UK in the last few decades. This sleek coupe not only drives beautifully but is also drop-dead gorgeous, and some subtle styling changes for 2021 give it a smarter, more contemporary look that we like. Under the skin, the F-Type coupe is still a full-blooded sports car that will endlessly thrill and entertain. The base 4-cylinder engine is a hoot, but it's the 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 375 horses that really gets the blood boiling. The 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe goes up against some stiff competition in the form of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe and the athletic Porsche Cayman.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe Changes: 🚙What's the difference vs. the 2020 Jaguar F-Type Coupe?

The 2021 F-Type is on the receiving end of many updates, the most notable being an extensive makeover of the exterior design. The F-Type was already a beautiful 2-door car, but the new model with its edgier lines takes things up a notch: a new front grille, swooping hood, and signature 'J' blade LED daytime running lights adds a hint of sporting aggression. Other updates to the F-Type coupe include a fully digital gauge cluster and an updated 12.3-inch infotainment system with Meridian audio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Quickshift transmission has been recalibrated for faster shifts, and the First Edition model has been added this year, featuring styling details such as a black contrast roof and unique 20-inch wheels.

Engine and Transmission

You can have the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe in two flavors: quick and really quick. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter gas four-cylinder gas engine delivering 296 horsepower and a meaty 295 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear-wheel drive via a recalibrated 8-speed Quickshift ZF automatic transmission. The power delivery is smooth with minimal turbo lag. The 2.0-liter car will get to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. For those with a lust for power and drama, the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 is the way to go. This power plant develops 375 hp and 399 lb-ft of torque and is one of the best-sounding engines out there. The V6 car will dash to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 171 mph. It is the less fuel-efficient of the two, but when has that ever mattered when it comes to beautiful performance beasts?

Verdict: 🏁Is the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe a good car?

It's not often that such a stunning British sports car makes its way to the US, and despite having been around for close to a decade, the first-gen Jaguar F-Type Coupe still tingles the senses and drops underwear. For 2021, the F-Type gets a few notable updates, the most obvious being the styling changes that give the vehicle a more contemporary look. We like it. Jaguar has also introduced an updated infotainment system, which is better than the outgoing unit but still lags behind the competition. Speaking of cons, the trunk is cartoonishly small, but the F-Type was never meant to compete with U-Haul vans. Also, there is no safety rating review of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe, and a few recalls make us question its reliability. On the road, it still delivers an exhilarating driving experience, and the cabin, though tight, is well built and attractive. The Porsche Cayman might handle better, and the Corvette might be faster, but the Jag comes standard with a magnet that starts with a P.

🚗What 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe Model Should I Buy?

If we were newly divorced, we'd go for the supercharged P380 model in British Racing Green and add the $3,100 20-inch 6 split-spoke wheels. On the inside, we'd go for the upgraded Meridian surround sound system for $870 and finish things off with the $1,125 Climate Pack and $500 Blind Spot Assist Pack, which add some really nice-to-have features. The total price of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Coupe with this build comes to $68,345, including a destination fee of $1,150.
