Although there are only three trims, the specs of every Kia Sorento Hybrid vary, with each of the trim levels boasting different powertrain and drivetrain configurations. All Sorentos have a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine and six-speed automatic transmission in combination with an electric motor. In the Hybrid trims, the system output is 227 hp and 258 lb-ft. FWD is standard, but there is also an EX AWD trim. The PHEV SX-P has more impressive powertrain specifications, with a 90-hp electric motor resulting in system outputs of 261 hp and the same 258 lb-ft, exclusively with AWD, but it's no quicker since it's also heavier.
Standard equipment is comprehensive, even on the base Hybrid EX, which comes with LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and a smart power liftgate. Inside, it has SynTex leatherette upholstery, heated and ten-way power front seats, and a 4.2-inch driver-information display. The infotainment system comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, SiriusXM, smartphone mirroring, and a six-speaker audio system. Standard driver assists include forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, Highway Driving Assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher up in the lineup, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a premium audio system are added. Only a Panoramic Sunroof package that also adds LED interior lighting is offered on the EX, but a list of other standalone options is available, including an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a tow hitch, and side steps.
