2024 Range Rover Velar Interior

Some might accuse Land Rover of taking minimalism to the extreme in the Range Rover Velar's interior, as the dashboard and center console are composed of flat panels with virtually zero physical buttons. However, we find the environment to be both smart and relaxing, and the materials look and feel expensive. This year, the older dual-screen central interface has made way for a single 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen interface that can receive over-the-air software updates. Classy perforated leather adorns the seats, and even the base model enjoys features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and an air quality sensor.

Seating and Interior Space

Unlike some of its siblings, the Land Rover Range Rover Velar seats just five occupants over two rows, with no third-row seating available. Interior space in the third row is typically too cramped in a vehicle of this size, so we don't see this as a drawback. Those seated in front will be the most comfortable thanks to generous headroom and legroom, along with seats that have good padding and power adjustability. The legroom decreases by around three inches in the second row, but adults up to six feet will still be able to get quite comfortable here. With air suspension, the vehicle can be lowered to make ingress and egress even easier for less agile occupants, and the large door openings also help in this regard. Visibility is bolstered by the standard blind-spot monitoring system.

Interior Colors and Materials

The base Velar comes with perforated, grained leather upholstery in a choice of Ebony, Cloud/Ebony, Raven Blue/Ebony, and Cloud. Each color choice also changes the color of the door panels and the area of the dashboard surrounding the touchscreen. The classy upholstery is matched by trim finishers in either Light Anodized or a Shadow Grey Ash veneer, although the latter does add $460 to the price. Completing the look is a Light Oyster Morzine headlining and gearshift paddles with a Satin Chrome finish.

In the Dynamic SE, the Range Rover Velar's interior colors are slightly different. The Light Anodized inserts are replaced by a darker variant, and there are also bright metal pedals and an Ebony Morzine headlining. Finally, the Dynamic HSE enjoys soft Windsor leather upholstery.

All models have quality fixtures and materials that qualify for the luxury car label.

2024 Range Rover Velar Trunk and Cargo Space

Although not as spacious as the BMW X5's trunk, the cargo space in the Land Rover Range Rover Velar is still quite useful at 30.9 cubic feet behind the second row. With these 40:20:40 split seats folded, there are 62.7 cubic feet behind the first row. A standard powered tailgate makes accessing the Velar's trunk a little more convenient when your hands are full.

In front, there are storage pockets in the doors, dual cupholders, and a covered compartment that doubles as the center armrest. The glovebox isn't very large, but the same can be said of many modern cars. At the back, there are more pockets in the doors, seatback pockets for tablets and the like, and a fold-down center armrest with another two cupholders.

2024 Range Rover Velar Infotainment and Features

Features

While luxury shoppers tend to go for fully loaded trims, the base S should not be discounted as it comes with many features as standard. Both front seats are heated and 14-way power-adjustable, with the driver also having access to a memory system that's linked to the power-adjustable steering column. There is also a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-folding door mirrors with an auto-dimming function on the driver's side, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, an air quality sensor, a digital driver's display, a garage door opener, a wireless device charger, and a sliding panoramic roof.

Land Rover hasn't been stingy with the driver-assistance features either, as every Velar enjoys adaptive cruise control with steering assist, blind-spot assist, a rearview camera, front/rear parking sensors, and lane-keep assist.

On the options list are highlights like a 3D surround-view camera system, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and automated parking.

Infotainment

The 2024 Velar is the first model to come with the latest Pivi Pro7 infotainment system, which is accessible via a new 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen that looks like it's floating above the dashboard. There are permanent sidebars on either side of the screen that allow for quick access to commonly used functions, and a Pre-Drive panel appears when each journey starts for immediate access to features like heated seats. Although physical buttons are noticeable by their absence, Land Rover does promise that around 80% of tasks can be completed within two taps of the home screen, so there shouldn't be endless swiping and prodding of the screen to do what you need to.

The infotainment suite is loaded with features like wireless operation for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM with a three-month Platinum Plan trial subscription, an online pack with a data plan, and a 12-speaker Meridian sound system. For $600, the more advanced Meridian 3D sound system with 16 speakers and a dual-channel subwoofer can be added.
