There are no crash test ratings for the Land Rover Range Rover Velar from the NHTSA or the IIHS. It did previously achieve a five-star EuroNCAP rating, however, so we have no doubt that it will hold up well in the unfortunate event of a crash.
NHTSA safety ratings are not available at this time.
The Land Rover Range Rover Velar comes with many safety features fitted as standard, so at least you don't have to spend extra on expensive packages to get them. More basic items include six airbags, tire pressure monitoring, a seat belt reminder, a rearview camera, emergency brake assist, and dynamic stability control. In Land Rover tradition, the Velar also comes with the kit needed to safely navigate dirt roads, including hill launch assist, Terrain Response, low traction launch, and All Terrain Progress Control, which is basically a low-speed cruise control for off-road use.
Back on normal roads, the Velar gets multiple driver-assistance technologies like adaptive cruise control with steering assist, blind-spot assist, a rear traffic monitor, driver condition monitoring, lane-keep assist, front/rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, traffic sign recognition, and an adaptive speed limiter.
For an added cost, the SUV can be equipped with a head-up display and a 3D surround-view camera system.

Last rated by J.D. Power for the 2020 model year, the Land Rover Range Rover Velar earned just 68 out of 100 for quality and reliability. Many rivals have superior ratings in this segment. 2023 and 2024 models have no recalls to report, but the 2022 version was recalled twice for missing audio safety features such as seat belt reminders, as well as seat belt pretensioners that may not properly restrain occupants. Another seat belt issue, this time for a faulty automatic locking retractor, affected 2021 models.
Warranty coverage for the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar runs for four years or 50,000 miles, but it does not come with complimentary scheduled maintenance.
Although we only have a five-star EuroNCAP review to go on, it indicates that the Velar is a very safe vehicle despite not being evaluated on local soil.
There are six airbags dotted around the interior of the Range Rover Velar.
