We have criticized the previous RX for being too Toyota-like on the outside, and Lexus has certainly brought its A-game along for the latest model. The exterior of the Lexus RX now exudes a premium air, with a modern new take on the Lexus spindle grille, now integrated into the design and not polarizing opinions as much as the in-your-face previous rendition. In profile, the RX boasts a coupe-like sloping roofline, and the upward-arcing motif on the rear door is echoed in the glasshouse above it, making for an eye-catching design. It retains typical Lexus styling cues like the L-shaped front DRLs. Base, Premium, and Premium+ RXs run on 19-inch alloy wheels and tires, while the Luxury gets dark-metallic 21s and the F Sport black 21s. The F Sport trims also feature a different grille mesh, black mirrors, and a more aggressive stance, thanks to sportier front and rear bumpers. LED headlights and taillights are standard on all trims, and a power tilt-and-slide moonroof is standard from Premium models onward.
The dimensions of the Lexus RX are much the same as the old model; the RX has a length of 192.5 inches, a width of 75.6 inches without the mirrors, and a height of 67.3 inches. However, the wheelbase grows by 2.36 inches to 112.2 inches and the front and rear track are wider, too, at 65 inches front, and 66 inches in the rear. Ground clearance is 8.2 inches on FWD trims and 8.1 inches on AWD trims.
The FWD RX 350 is the lightest model with a curb weight of 4,155 pounds, and the heaviest gas RXs are the RX 350 AWD models at 4,310 lbs. Naturally, the hybrids are heavier, with the RX 500h F Sport Performance topping out at a substantial 4,750 lbs.

The exterior colors of the Lexus RX vary by trim and the base RX 350 and the RX 350 Premium have access to seven hues. Nebula Gray Pearl, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Nori Green Pearl, and Nightfall Mica are no-cost options, while Eminent White Pearl and Iridium cost $500 extra. The RX 350 Premium+ and Luxury additionally get access to the striking Copper Crest, a $595 option. The RX 350 F Sport Handling loses access to Eminent White Pearl, Matador Red Mica, and Copper Crest, but gains the no-cost Grecian Water and the $500 Ultra White. The hybrids get all the same color options except for the RX 500h F Sport Performance, which has a reduced palette comprising Ultra White, Nebula Gray Pearl, Iridium, Caviar, and Copper Crest.
To make a visual statement, the vivid Copper Crest (RX 350 Premium+ and RX 350 Luxury only) is the most striking, but both Matador Red Mica (not available on RX 350 F Sport Handling and RX 500h F Sport Performance) and Grecian Water (only available on the RX 350 F Sport Handling) are eye-catching hues as well. Among the more subdued colors, Nori Green Pearl suits the RX very well.
While there are a few $500 colors, only Copper Crest costs $595, which makes it the most expensive color. It is not available on all trims, just on the RX 350 Premium+, the RX 350 Luxury, their corresponding hybrids, and the RX 500h F Sport Performance.
On the base RX 350, a power tilt-and-slide moonroof is optionally available. This moonroof is standard on all the other trims. On all trims but the base and Premium, you can optionally get a panoramic glass roof.
The RX 350, RX 350 Premium, and RX 350 Premium+ run on 19-inch alloy wheels. The Luxury and F Sport trims get 21-inch alloys.
