2023 RZ Safety

No safety ratings have been published for the Lexus RZ by the IIHS or NHTSA yet. However, the Subaru Solterra that shares a platform with the RZ achieved a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, the agency's highest safety accolade, so this indicates that the new RZ is likely to impress when evaluated in a crash test.

2023 RZ Key Safety Features

The RZ comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite, and it includes an extensive list of driver-assistance technologies. These include all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and intersection support, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and intelligent high beams.

Added to this, both trims also benefit from safety features like a surround-view camera system, vehicle stability control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and digital latch with safe exit assist, tire pressure monitoring, traction control, and intuitive parking assist with auto braking. Both models come with nine airbags.

Going for the Luxury adds traffic jam assist, lane change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and a head-up display. A digital rear-view mirror is available as an option for both the Premium and Luxury.

2023 RZ Reliability

Reliability ratings are not yet available for the Lexus RZ, and it has not been subject to any recalls. The Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra, both of which share a platform with the Lexus, were recalled for a worrying issue where the wheels could detach. However, we have no reason to believe that the RZ should be affected by the same problem.

Besides that, Lexus is renowned for its dependable, high-quality vehicles. It claims that the battery of the RZ has been designed for durability and should retain close to 90% of its capacity after 10 years.

The basic warranty for the 2023 Lexus RZ runs for 50,000 miles or four years, but the electric components have greater coverage of eight years or 100,000 miles.
