2023 Grecale Interior

The interior of the Maserati Grecale is premium and finished in high-quality materials, soft-touch plastics, and natural leathers and woods, fully in keeping with the brand and price tag. A bit of Stellantis parts sharing can be seen going on inside, but everything is well-integrated enough. There is certainly a high-tech air with more than 33 inches of screen real estate on the dashboard, not only for the gauge cluster and touchscreen, but also for the lower "Comfort" screen for the climate controls and even the multi-display Maserati clock above the center stack. The steering wheel seems to have been lifted straight out of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, barring a few detail changes such as the badge, and we're a bit disappointed that Maserati couldn't be bothered to design its own, even though it's nice to hold. There is plenty of space - more than in most rivals - reflecting its half-a-size-up dimensions.

Seating and Interior Space

The ten-way power-adjustable front seats of the Maserati Grecale are comfortable and supportive, holding occupants firmly in place even when the roads turn curvy. While seating comfort is excellent and the driver gets memory settings, the front seats are not heated as standard. At least there's plenty of interior space in the Grecale, even in the second row, which has a full 39.1 inches of legroom - significantly more than any direct rival, even the roomy X3, and a lot more than the cramped Macan. The rear window is of a reasonable size but the rear pillars are quite thick, hampering your view somewhat. At least a backup camera and both front and rear parking sensors are standard to help you maneuver the car in tight spaces.

Interior Colors and Materials

There are four available interior colors for the Maserati Grecale GT trim and the default is Nero (black). The upholstery is in leather. The optional Nero/Grigio, Greige (a grayish beige), or Marrone (maroon) seats are only part of the $5,500 Premium package, which upgrades them to heated and ventilated 12-way powered pews, along with a list of other features such as a sunroof and heated steering wheel for a total outlay of $6,150. The default interior trim is Maglia Milano, but three other options are available - high-gloss piano black ($1,200), open-pore Radica wood ($500), or high-gloss copper-yarn carbon fiber ($2,500) - but these also compel the ambient dashboard and door-panel lighting for an additional $350.

The Modena gets the heated 12-way power seats as standard and is Nero inside with open-pore Radica wood trim. All the alternatives require the addition of the Full Premium leather upholstery for $3,400. These include the off-white gray Ghiaccio, as well as Nero/Grigio and Rosso. Additionally adding the Premium Plus package with its ventilated 14-way power front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, and tri-zone climate control restricts your color choices to Nero/Grigio, Rosso (red), or Nero with Rosso or Giallo (yellow) stitching, for an additional outlay of between $7,400 to $7,900. The Modena also gets access to more trim options, with the default being open-pore Radica wood. Here, the high-gloss piano black and high-gloss copper-yarn carbon fiber cost only $500 and $1,300, respectively, while high-gloss Carbon Fiber Twill becomes available at $2,000 and 3D carbon-fiber trim at $1,700. Not all the trim options are compatible with all the interior upholstery and colors, so check the configurator for your desired combination.

The GT's optional ambient lighting is standard on the Modena. The Modena can be ordered with Maserati tridents stitched into the front and rear headrests for $400 when equipped with the Full Premium Leather interior.

2023 Grecale Trunk and Cargo Space

The Maserati Grecale's trunk space of 18.9 cubic feet is below par for its body size and although it's ten percent more than that of a Macan, it's well down on the X3's 28.7 cu-ft. Trunk volume can be further expanded by folding down the 60/40-split second row, but Maserati doesn't provide a figure for this configuration, nor for the trunk's under-floor storage compartment. In the cabin, storage is taken care of by a spot to store your phone underneath the climate-control screen, a lidded storage compartment behind that, twin cupholders behind that, and a lidded armrest/storage cubby behind that. You also get a conventional glovebox and rather truncated front and rear door pockets.

2023 Grecale Infotainment and Features

Features

The Grecale GT's standard features start with keyless entry, push-button start, a power liftgate, ten-way powered front seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, cruise control, aluminum paddle shifters, a tilting/telescoping steering column, and dual-zone climate control. The GT makes do without heated front seats and a sunroof, but the Modena gains these items. Standard driver assists are meager, even on the Modena, with both trims only equipped with automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, forward-collision warning, and parking sensors front and rear. All additional driver aids cost extra via the addition of packages.

Infotainment

Both trims get the same Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) infotainment system powered by Android Automotive OS. The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is flanked by an infotainment touchscreen of the same size and an 8.8-inch climate-control touchscreen below that. The system incorporates Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, and a 14-speaker Sonus Faber audio system. Even the classic Maserati clock in the center of the dashboard is a reinterpreted digital version with selectable clock faces and alternate displays, including a G meter, interactive assistant display, compass, and chronometer. The tech can further be upgraded by optionally adding a head-up display, wireless charging pad, and 21-speaker Sonus Faber audio system.
