2020 Levante Interior

Open the door to the Levante and you're greeted by a roomy cabin swathed in leather and your choice of wood or carbon fiber, with front seats that feature heating as standard with ventilation as an option. The overall ambiance is one of quality and style, but taking a closer look reveals a bit of parts-sharing with some switches and even the infotainment system being shared with more run-of-the-mill vehicles like Jeeps and Dodges. While this is disappointing, the overall build quality and design are pleasing and only just fall short of what we'd expect of a vehicle in this price bracket. Fortunately, a Maserati clock adorns the top of the dash and helps add a hint more old-school style.

Seating and Interior Space

The Levante seats five in respectable comfort, with drivers able to appreciate 12-way power-adjustable seats up front that help pilots of all sizes find the perfect driving position. Available power-adjustable pedals further enhance the experience, while the large windows mean good visibility all round. The exception is the rear window that is a little smaller than in some rivals. Getting in and out is no more difficult than in any other SUV, and even putting taller adults in the back for extended periods is tolerable. Overall, the Levante does what it's supposed to with little to complain about.

Interior Colors and Materials

Leather seats are standard across the range, with extended leather packages available and perforated leather standard on the GTS model. A segment-first, you can even spec a combination of leather and silk for maximum opulence. Colors are diverse but not eccentric, with Nero, Cuoio, Sabbia, Marrone, and Rosso leather available. Contrasting stitching can also be specced, while the headliner can be trimmed in Alcantara for an even more premium feel. Trim accents can feature glossy wood in three different grains, while multiple weaves of carbon fiber and even open-pore wood can be optioned too.

2020 Levante Trunk and Cargo Space

With an available remote power liftgate, loading your bespoke Louis Vuitton luggage is easy. 20.5 cubic feet of volume is available with the seats up, enough for four or five full-size suitcases. Should that not be enough, a center pass-through is available, or you can manually fold the rear seats in their 60/40 split to maximize cargo volume to 57.4 cubic feet.

In the cabin, a slot beneath the climate controls is just big enough for a smartphone, while a retractable lid alongside the gear-lever reveals a pair of cupholders for front passengers. Your normal glove box and small door pockets are present, with a pair of cupholders in the rear too. The most interesting feature is the front armrests' refrigerated storage area - perfect for keeping your Evian water chilled.

2020 Levante Infotainment and Features

Features

The Levante is a beautifully appointed vehicle with 12-way power heated seats up front as standard along with dual-zone climate control. A Maserati dash-top clock is a nice novelty, as is a refrigerated compartment in the center armrests. Soft-close doors and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof are also available, while adaptive air suspension smooths the ride. Keyless entry, remote start, a remote power liftgate, and park sensors are other useful additions, while specs like active blind-spot assist, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning with autonomous braking, and adaptive cruise control keep you safe are optional. Other available features include quad-zone climate control, a surround-view camera, auto wipers, and adaptive LED matrix headlights.

Infotainment

The Levante's standard infotainment system features a sharp and near-flawless eight-inch touchscreen interface with USB connectivity, Bluetooth, aux in, navigation, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, with eight speakers managing output. If you want more oomph out of your sound system, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium upgrade is also available, as is a Bowers & Wilkins 1,280-watt setup. With clear graphics and quick response times, the touchscreen is great - even if it's shared with other Fiat Chrysler models - and for those who prefer a more tactile navigation experience, a console-mounted rotary controller can also manage the system.
