For 2019, Mazda has increased the offering on the CX-5 range by adding two new trim lines, taking the total number to five, while adding new engine options as well. Base Sport derivatives still feature a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder developing 187 horsepower with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive and using a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera, cloth upholstery, blind spot monitoring, and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with four speakers. The Touring adds leatherette upholstery, heated seats, dual-zone climate control, and improved infotainment for a more comprehensive package, while last year’s range-topper, the Grand Touring, adds leather seats, a power sunroof, power tailgate, and navigation to the mix. New for 2019, the Grand Touring Reserve features a 250 hp turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, and is equipped with traffic sign recognition, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and ventilated front seats. The Signature now tops the range, offering either the turbocharged engine or a new 2.2-liter diesel motor with 168 hp, but also adds a surround view camera, front and rear park sensors, and upgraded interior surfaces for a more premium experience.
