The 720S Spider is the convertible variant of McLaren’s Super Series range and is fitted with the same 710-horsepower, 568 lb-ft of torque 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as its coupe counterpart. The electrically operated roof can be lowered in 11 seconds and the weight penalty of having unlimited headroom is only 108 pounds which means that it will reach 60 mph in a 720S coupe equalling 2.7 seconds. The 720S Spider will top out at a lifetime-in-jail speed of 212 mph and all that power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The Proactive Chassis Control II system makes this one of the most comfortable-riding supercars out there. Standard equipment levels are decent if not overly generous, but customers can customize their vehicles in a multitude of ways either from off-the-rack options or through the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division if they want something extra special. Prices for the base model start at $306,000.
