The 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT models offer strong performance from a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with outputs ranging from 469 to 550 hp. A quick 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and limited-slip controlled rear-wheel drive are standard on all variants. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT does battle with some of the most iconic sports coupes around and it needs to be more than just good to tempt shoppers away from the competition. Mercedes has therefore put a lot of effort into ensuring that the AMG GT offers a very engaging driving experience, for 2018 a number of trim changes and some minor tweaks have been carried out and there is a new addition to the range.
A thoroughly modern and high quality cabin greets occupants as they slide down into the comfortable seats. A limited range of adjustments and firm side bolsters may not suit every body shape but most will find it a good fit. The controls fall easily to hand and the large center console and high mounted touchscreen are ideally placed too.
Cargo space is limited to two medium sized bags and there is not much oddments space in the cabin. A restricted view out the back is aided by a standard rearview camera.

The GT S ups these figures to 515 hp and 494 lb-ft while the GT C weighs in at 550 hp, 502 lb-ft. Gear changes are quick and unobtrusive and other than a slight hesitation in certain driving situations, the AMG GT feels extremely responsive and very quick in a straight line.
The 0-60 mph sprint time is quoted at 3.9-seconds for the AMG GT and 3.7-seconds for the AMG GT S and 3.6-seconds for the GT C. These figures are competitive against the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type. The GT/GT S offer 16/22 mpg in city/highway driving, dropping to 15/20 mpg for the GT C.
The Base AMG GT comes equipped with power front seats heating and memory function, power adjustable exterior mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, perimeter lighting, climate control, vehicle location and telematics system, 8.4-inch touchscreen display with integrated navigation, 4-speaker sound system and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Safety items include front and rear parking aid with rearview camera, adaptive high beams and collision prevention assist. Distronic Plus with adaptive cruise control is optional and the Lane Tracking Package adds blind spot and lane keeping assist.
A panoramic sunroof, keyless go with power tailgate release and a Burmester sound system are available options. AMG sport suspension, performance exhaust system and aerodynamic packages are on offer too.
The AMG GT S adds electronic suspension and limited-slip diff control, adaptive exhaust system, upgraded 10-speaker audio system and staggered size wheels (19-inch up front and 20-inch in the rear).
The AMG GT C includes the above and adds active aerodynamics, Nappa Leather, larger front brakes a wider rear track with wider tires and rear wheel steering.
The AMG GT offers a peerless combination of performance and handling ability allied to stunning looks and a modicum of practicality. The sonorous V8 exhaust note and comfortable ride add to its GT credentials and the GT C models really enhance handling at the limit.
Notable available extras on offer include Carbon ceramic brakes, performance tires and the AMG Dynamic Plus Package which includes dynamic engine mounts, widened power band, dynamically enhanced handling features and an AMG performance steering wheel.
