The 2020 Mercedes-AMG A35 is an all-new offering in Mercedes’ vast line-up and demarcates the midway point between the upcoming range-topping A45 AMG and the less sporting A-Class models in this compact sedan range. As such it is fitted with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque that’s sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Performance figures are impressive with 60 mph arriving in 4.7 seconds, just about on par with rivals like the Audi A3. The interior features the new MBUX infotainment display which dominates the view ahead of the driver and there are plenty of performance-oriented details to help differentiate the AMG A35 from its lesser stablemates.
Leather seats with contrasting red stitching and a chunky flat-bottomed steering wheel with shift paddles are part of the standard equipment. Dual exhaust pipes, a lip spoiler, and either 18 or 19-inch wheels add some AMG aggression to the exterior. Pricing will start at around the $45,000 point.
