The 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Wagon is a performance estate car based on the standard Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The car is powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with an electric auxiliary compressor. Total system output is 429 horsepower and is good for a 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds. All-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission are standard.
The Wagon comes with AMG sports seats, a sport steering wheel, and AMG brushed stainless pedals. Other options include 19-inch AMG lightweight wheels and an AMG night package that includes blacked-out trim pieces, dark tinted glass, and black exhaust pieces. The car can also be equipped with safety features like active lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, and emergency braking. A Driver Assistance Package is available that includes semi-autonomous driving features.
Unlike the sedan and convertible versions of the E53, the Wagon has yet to go on sale in the United States. If and when it does, it will compete with other high-performance wagons like the Audi RS6, carrying a price tag in the region of $81,000 before options are included.
