2019 AMG GLE 63 SUV Interior
Even though the GLE is set to be replaced soon, its interior is still competitive. There's plenty of premium materials, lots of space, and enough gadgetry to keep most satisfied. Being an AMG, touches like the deeply contoured seats and the brushed aluminum pedals are welcome extras that further lift the overall positive impression. The one giveaway to the GLE's age is the tacked-on central infotainment display - it doesn't look as slick as the systems in newer Mercedes models. Otherwise, ergonomics are mostly good and the controls are logically presented. There are lots of features at this level, from dual-zone climate control to Nappa leather seats, a sunroof which fills the cabin with welcome light, power-folding side mirrors, and power-adjustable front seats. The 63 S additionally has seat massaging.

Seating and Interior Space
The GLE seats five passengers in plenty of comfort. There's more than enough legroom and headroom for front and rear-seat occupants. Rear legroom is especially good and six-footers will have no trouble on road trips. The driver's seat offers sufficient electronic adjustment to find a suitable driving position and the tilt/telescoping steering column also adjusts electrically. Easy ingress and egress are facilitated by door openings which are usefully large, and unlike some trucks, the GLE isn't so high off the ground that it's a great chore to step up into. Visibility is also better than on the GLE coupe - the GLE SUV's more traditional shape and bigger rear window assist in this regard.

Interior Colors and Materials
The GLE 63 gets exclusive Nappa leather as standard - the material feels and looks fantastic, and double top-stitching on the seats, dashboard, and armrests make the vehicle's considerable cost a little easier to digest. A Dinamica roof liner on the 63 S (optional on the 63), three trim options (Anthracite Poplar wood, Natural Grain Ash wood, and Black Piano Lacquer), and brushed aluminum accents gel together beautifully.
Three upholstery color choices are available: Black, Espresso Brown/Black, and Porcelain/Black. For an extra $1,750, carbon fiber trim is available. Leather-wrapped as standard, a wood/leather steering wheel or a Dinamica/AMG Nappa leather steering wheel are options.
2019 AMG GLE 63 SUV Trunk and Cargo Space
Leaving seven-seater duties to the bigger GLS ensures that the GLE offers a well-sized cargo area, with 38.2 cubic feet of space behind the back seats. Two large suitcases and two smaller ones can be easily stacked on top of each other, provided that the load cover is slid out of the way. Fold down the 60/40-split rear seats and you'll have access to a giant load area measuring 80.3 cubes, easily accommodating a bicycle without you needing to remove the front wheel.
Small-item storage is reasonable although not outstanding - there are door bins, a center console, and a well-sized glovebox for stashing belongings like wallets, water bottles, and mobile phones.
