The fourth variant of the Mercedes-AMG Four-Door lineup will be called the AMG GT 73e. Why the 'e'? Because unlike the existing sub-models, this one will boast a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Don't assume it'll be aimed only at eco-conscious customers. On the contrary, the AMG GT 73e will be the top dog in the lineup with an expected output of around 800 horsepower. To compare, the GT 63 S has 630 hp.
Under the new model's hood will be AMG's 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 612 hp. It'll be combined with a 204-hp electric motor. Expect a sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 195 mph. An all-electric driving range of around 27-31 miles is expected.
The exterior is not expected to look much different than the other AMG Four-Door models, with the notable exception of badging, restyled bumpers, and unique headline graphics. An official debut date has not been announced though we expect it'll happen sometime in 2021.
