An all-new Mercedes-AMG SL is due to debut later this year, most likely at the Munich Motor Show in September. Aside from spy shots, no other exterior images exist at this time. However, the German automaker has just released the first interior images showing the dashboard design with an 11.9-inch central touchscreen that can slide forward and aft. There's also a digital driver's gauge cluster, and 2+2 seating. Mercedes has confirmed there will be up to 64 unique ambient light colors. The MBUX infotainment system will be standard fare.
The latter is in contrast with the two-seat only Mercedes-AMG GT. The SL, long Mercedes' flagship grand tourer, will supposedly drop the folding hardtop in favor of a far more lightweight soft-top.
Under the hood, we're expecting to see the automaker's excellent 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. But that'll only be for the AMG high-performance model. Less powerful trims could get an inline-six gasoline engined aided by an electric motor for added bursts of power. More details are expected later this summer.
