Seating and Interior Space

Climb inside, and you'll find that the four-seater Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is a model that easily lives up to the brand's high standards. Leather upholstery is standard and the upper dash and door trim are finished in topstitched MB-Tex, a sort of synthetic leather. Of course, those in front are treated to more space and ample leg- and headroom, along with soft power-adjustable seats (with four-way power lumbar support) and memory settings. Merc's positioning of the seat adjusters on the door panels makes a lot of sense since you can actually see which button you're pressing. At the back, things are expectedly tighter, but adults under six-feet tall actually get reasonable legroom. Those over six-feet tall will find their heads making contact with the roof, though. Glitzy ambient lighting, available wood trim, and dual-zone climate control are some of the features that make time spent inside the E450's cabin a pleasant affair.

2022 E-Class Coupe Trunk and Cargo Space

Pop the trunk lid and you will find a cargo area with a volume of exactly 10 cubic feet. The opening itself is quite wide so it's easy to load large suitcases and some smaller carry-ons. However, the trunk itself is quite shallow, so that large suitcase will have to lie flat. A 40/20/40-split-folding design for the rear seats increases versatility because long items like skis can be accommodated while still carrying two rear-seat passengers.

Storage space inside the cabin is reasonable and includes a usefully sized glovebox, a covered center console armrest, four cupholders (two in front and two at the back), and the usual door pockets.

2022 E-Class Coupe Infotainment and Features

Features

The E450 is a well-equipped 2-door luxury coupe, or a brilliantly equipped one if you are willing to splurge on options. As standard, the front seats are heated, power-adjustable (including four-way power lumbar support), and have their own memory settings. The Merc also boasts dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start via a mobile app, power-folding side mirrors, keyless go, hands-free access, and a garage door opener. A long list of safety technologies includes a surround-view camera system, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot assist, and Parktronic with parking sensors and automatic parking assistance. To equip the E-Class to near S-Class levels, you can optionally specify goodies like massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated front armrests, and ventilated front seats.

Infotainment

The E-Class Coupe utilizes the brand's latest MBUX infotainment system which is linked to a 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Touch Control buttons have been added to the steering wheel, but it does take time to get used to them. Alternatively, you can use the touchpad controller or the "Hey, Mercedes" voice activation system - the latter is a bit of a hit or miss affair, but Mercedes isn't the only automaker to be guilty of this. The system is feature-rich, though, including easy connectivity via Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or USB-C ports. Navigation map updates are included for three years. Both SiriusXM satellite radio and HD Radio can be enjoyed via the 13-speaker Burmester sound system. While wireless device charging is included, you have to cough up more cash for a Wi-Fi hotspot, a head-up display, and augmented reality for navigation.
