2023 EQS SUV Interior

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is fully in keeping with its price. It's a solid, high-quality environment crafted from the finest materials. The standard dashboard is already impressive, with its twin displays, but the 580 trims exchange them for the full-width Hyperscreen, which dominates the interior. For all its high-tech features, the interior retains that classic, elegant Mercedes ambiance in a thoroughly modern way. Space is plentiful inside for all passengers, and comfort levels are sky-high, as expected.

Seating and Interior Space

The seats in the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV are extremely comfortable, and they only get better as you move up the ranks. The standard front seats in the Premium sub-trims are not only 14-way power-adjustable with memory, but heated and ventilated as well, while even the second-row seats are power-adjustable. The front seats in the Exclusive sub-trims get rapid heating and massaging functions as well. In models with the Pinnacle package, second-row comfort is stepped up even more with luxury headrests and a luxury center armrest with a wireless phone charger. There is standard seating for five people, but an optional third row can be specified at extra cost - and it can be heated as well. Annoyingly, on the 580 models with the Hyperscreen, lumbar support for the front seats can only be adjusted via this touchscreen interface.

Even tall passengers will find plenty of stretch-out interior space in the first two rows, with headroom figures of 40.7 and 40.6 inches, respectively, and legroom figures of 40.6 and 41.3 inches, respectively, with the second row slid back. When the optional third row is fitted, the second row folds and slides at the touch of a button to grant access to ease some of the clambering to get back there. Since kids will be most comfortable there, having to clamber probably won't bother them; legroom is so restricted in the third row that Mercedes doesn't even provide a figure.

Interior Colors and Materials

There are nine available interior colors for the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV base model. It comes with leather upholstery, and the no-cost colors include black/Space Grey, Macchiato Beige/Space Grey, black/Sable Brown, and black/Biscaya Blue. The Neva Grey/Sable Brown color scheme requires the addition of the $1,600 Grey microfiber headliner. Nappa leather costs $1,370 and can be had in black/Space Grey, black/Sable Brown, or black/Biscaya Blue, but it requires various other packages to be equipped too. The same applies to Macchiato Beige/Space Grey. Five trim options are available with backlit laser-cut Star Pattern, natural-grain Anthracite Linden wood, and natural-grain Magnolia wood as free options. Anthracite 3D Relief-optic costs $540, and natural-grain Yacht-design Brown Walnut wood costs $1,515.

The Exclusive sub-trim's choices are mostly the same, but with slight variations to the combinations that require the microfiber headliner. There is also one additional color scheme, namely the Manufaktur Nappa leather in Neva Grey/Biscaya Blue, but only in conjunction with the $4,750 Manufaktur Interior package, the microfiber headliner, and the natural-grain Yacht-design Brown walnut wood.

Pinnacle models retain these color schemes, but more of the options require the Manufaktur Interior package, Grey microfiber headliner, and/or both. Only three trim finishes are available on Pinnacle sub-trims; the Anthracite 3D Relief-optic and backlit laser-cut Star Pattern fall away.

2023 EQS SUV Trunk and Cargo Space

The cargo space of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is not as generous as its outward dimensions suggest, and with all three rows in place, a tiny 6.8 cubic feet of trunk volume is available. The luggage compartment grows to a more useful 28.3 cu-ft with the third row folded and 71 cu-ft with both the second and third rows folded. In five-seater guise without the third row fitted, anything from 22.7-31 cu-ft is available behind the sliding second row, depending on its fore/aft position, and 74.3 cu-ft behind the first row. There is no frunk.

Passengers have access to various stowage spaces in the interior. They get a large tray beneath the center console, door pockets in all doors, various lidded and covered storage spaces, a glove compartment, a front wireless charging pad, and two cupholders for each row, including the third, along with third-row uncovered storage alongside the cupholders. Pinnacle sub-trims get a second-row luxury center armrest that also contains a wireless charging pad.

2023 EQS SUV Infotainment and Features

Features

Even the base 450+ Premium is well-equipped and is the baseline for all the equipment and features that are standard across the board. These include a power liftgate, keyless go, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power front seats, power second-row seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient LED interior lighting, a wireless charging pad, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and separate portrait infotainment screen. In the 580s, the interior looks quite different with the full-width 56-inch Hyperscreen. Higher up in the lineup, features such as four-zone climate control, an air-purification and fragrance-dispensing system, massaging front seats, heated second-row seats, additional MBUX features, and a second-row wireless charging pad are added. Optional features include third-row seats with or without heating, five-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, upgraded leather and trim, and various other items.

Infotainment

The MBUX infotainment system in the 450 Premium trims comes with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.8-inch center portrait touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, HD Radio, intelligent online navigation with map updates for one year, touch-control buttons on the steering wheel, "Hey, Mercedes" keyword activation, voice controls, six USB charging ports, biometric authentication, over-the-air updates, Bluetooth audio streaming, and a 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround-sound audio system. The 450 Exclusive trims add to these a front-cabin MBUX Assistant, while the 450 Pinnacle trims also get a second-row MBUX Assistant with an MBUX tablet, as well as a wireless charging pad in the center fold-down armrest.

The 580 trims have similar features, but look different inside thanks to their full-width multi-display 56-inch Hyperscreen with AI tech that brings commands and features to the surface as you need them. Passengers can operate various vehicle functions via the Hyperscreen, view electric infographics in real time, or even find locations and toss driving directions to the center-screen navigation system.
