Nissan has done its best to sell the Maxima as some sort of sport sedan, but one turn behind the wheel will reveal a car that is more comfortable cruising on the highway than cutting an apex on track. A leading reason for this is its disappointing CVT transmission. The other is its suspension setup. The SR tries to remedy this by adding stiffened dampers with a larger front stabilizer bar, but the end result isn't much more impressive. The car also sports paddle shifters that are pretty much useless. The interior does get some nice alloy pedals, an Anthracite headliner, and Ascot leather seats with Alcantara inserts, though.
