The Polestar 1 is the first of the Swedish tuning firm’s mass-market offerings as a standalone manufacturer. It is clearly still influenced by Volvo, but it goes about things in its own way. This first offering is the only hybrid the brand will offer, with future models being powered by electricity alone. It’s also what the company claims will be their most expensive car ever. Since it’s their first car, this is the attention grabber, the car that makes a big impact and helps the brand cement itself into the minds of the buying public. Its hybrid powertrain produces a total of 600 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. This gives it the capability to launch from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, with top speed arriving at 155 mph. It’s also capable of running solely on electric propulsion for 60 miles. In the cabin, Nappa leather is standard along with heated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
