Four trims are on offer in the 718 Boxster range, but telling them apart is fairly tricky. Fortunately, different colors for brakes and exhaust tips help, and you can't miss the unique look of the Style Edition that will be coming later. The base and Boxster T models come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer-four with 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque while the Boxster S gets a 2.5-liter turbo with 350 hp and 309 lb-ft. The range-topper is the GTS 4.0 and, as the name suggests, it comes with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six generating 394 hp and the same torque as the S. The available PDK automatic increases this torque figure to 317 lb-ft. This model is easily differentiated by its unique fascias, but all models come with bi-xenon headlights and an adaptive rear wing.Standard features on all models also extend to a six-speed manual transmission, a six-speaker sound system, and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay but no Android Auto. The Boxster T and GTS also feature some slight performance differences, but all models handle like they're on rails.
The base model is offered with the Premium Package, which, for $2,510, adds Porsche entry and drive, lane change assist, power-folding exterior mirrors with courtesy lighting, a heated multifunction steering wheel, the Light Design Package, and a storage net in the passenger footwell. The SportDesign Package changes the look of the base model with a SportDesign front fascia, front spoiler, and rear spoiler at a cost of $3,050.
Porsche's active suspension management system is an extra $1,790 and lowers the car by 10 mm. The $2,090 Sport Chrono Package adds an analog and digital chronograph watch on the dashboard and mode switches on the steering wheel for Sport, Sport Plus, and Individual modes. This package also includes the PSM Sport mode setting. The high-end Burmester sound system is a $4,690 optional extra, while adaptive cruise control on its own goes for $1,670.
Many of these extras are available throughout the range, but there are some differences in available specifications per trim. For instance, the Boxster T is available with the 718 T Interior Package for $2,770 that adds Sport-Tex seat centers and interior trim in one of four bright colors. The GTS 4.0, meanwhile, has its own Interior Package for $2,160 that upgrades the upholstery, and it comes with a Bose sound system for $990.
