Like the base 911, the S is a sharp tool of driving finesse, but here, the scalpel is power-operated. The jump in power over the base model entitles this model to the option of a glorious seven-speed manual transmission at no cost. Naturally, this means that you can’t have the Sport Chrono package with its launch control, but the fun factor on the daily drive can be even more rewarding than the occasional rocket-propelled slingshot effect of two pedals and a launch system. Whichever you choose, the Carrera S is the fastest and therefore, for many, the best.
