2023 Porsche 911 Dakar Safety and Reliability

Owing to its positioning as a high-end sports car, the safety standards of the Porsche 911 Dakar have not been assessed by the IIHS and NHTSA, and the exclusive 911 Dakar is almost certain to never be subjected to a crash test. Porsche is unlikely to have skimped on safety, though, and the essential safety equipment should keep the driver and passenger protected if the worst happens.

The Porsche 911 Dakar doesn't come with a long list of safety features, but the essentials are in place. That includes six airbags (dual front, dual side, and dual curtain), tire pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, basic cruise control, the Porsche Wet Mode, a pad wear sensor for the braking system, and enhanced Porsche stability management.

A surround-view camera system is available as an optional extra, and Porsche's Warn and Brake assist can help to prevent potential collisions. Advanced driver-assist equipment like blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control aren't available, however.

Traditionally, the Porsche 911 has been one of the more reliable high-end sports cars on the market. At this early stage in its life, though, the Dakar has already been recalled once for an air bag that may not correctly deploy in a crash. No other recalls were published at the time of writing, and the 2023 911 has a stellar 86 out of 100 score from J.D. Power, including 85/100 for quality and reliability. There is no reason why the reliability ratings of the Porsche 911 Dakar won't live up to other 911s.

The warranty of the 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar matches that of other 911s. A four-year/50,000-mile warranty with 24-hour roadside assistance provides peace of mind, and there is a limited corrosion warranty that runs for 12 years regardless of miles covered.
