2023 Ram ProMaster Cargo Van Safety and Reliability

2023 ProMaster Cargo Van Safety

The NHTSA and IIHS don't often subject cargo vans to extensive crash-testing, and the Ram ProMaster Cargo is no exception. However, other Ram vehicles generally have pretty good safety ratings, so the ProMaster should benefit from the same expertise.

2023 ProMaster Cargo Van Key Safety Features

Ram knows that not even cargo vans can be excluded from receiving the latest driver-assist technologies. Last year, the van gained important safety equipment as standard, like traffic-sign recognition, full-speed forward-collision warning with emergency brake assist and pedestrian detection, and drowsiness detection. This is in addition to a rearview camera with dynamic gridlines and crosswind assist, the latter a useful feature in a large, slab-sided van.

The list of optional driver aids has expanded. Either individually or as part of a package, new owners can add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, a digital rearview mirror, intelligent speed assist, lane-keep assist, front/rear parking sensors, traffic-sign information, automatic LED headlights with auto high beams, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

The basic safety equipment like ABS, stability control, and six airbags are all in place.

2023 ProMaster Cargo Van Reliability

Commercial cargo haulers are seldom officially rated for dependability, but these kinds of vehicles are hard workers that need to be able to put in years of work before being traded in. There have been no 2023 recalls, but the 2022 model was recalled once for an inoperative rearview camera, and the 2021 model twice for a seatbelt locking-retractor malfunction and an unsecured parking pall that may cause the vehicle to roll away in Park.

Ram offers a 36,000-mile/36-month limited warranty, while the powertrain and roadside assistance are covered for 60,000 miles/60 months.
