Ram has officially confirmed it will debut an all-electric version of its popular 1500 full-size pickup truck sometime in 2024. It will not immediately replace the combustion-engined variant, though the model's long-term future is definitely battery-electric.
The automaker, now part of Stellantis, has not provided many details at this time, other than it will ride on a new platform and will have fast charging up to 150 kW. Other expected systems include an EV trip energy monitor, a charge station locator, preconditioning, and numerous drive modes. It's said Ram is targeting a range of up to 500 miles. To compare, Ford's new F-150 Lightning has a maximum range of 300 miles and the GMC Hummer EV can do 350 miles.
Ram is going all-out here and its ultimate goal is to redefine the segment. We'll be learning more details over the next couple of years of what could very well turn out to be the ultimate full-size EV pickup truck.
