Saab has fallen on some hard times of late, and the 9-3 effectively illustrates that this came about because Saab’s former bosses at GM had allowed the car to become wholly irrelevant. The 9-3 sedan just isn’t competitive anymore. The car became so diluted and mainstream that there really isn’t anything distinctive about it anymore, and this used to be one of its main selling points. It does handle quite well, which is an important feature for a small European sedan, even one that’s front-wheel-drive. The interior, though, still shows that the car has its roots in the old GM.
