Subaru has stuck to what it does well with the WRX STI: take a compact sedan, shove in a powerful flat-four engine, combine it with a well-sorted all-wheel-drive system, and drop a surfboard-sized wing on the back. The result is one of the best driver’s cars in this price range. The 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine delivers 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque and is coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.
The base WRX STI gets 19-inch wheels, a driver-controlled central differential, an STI sport-tuned suspension, and Brembo performance brakes. Inside, there are heated sport seats in a combination of Ultrasuede and leather, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, a rearview camera, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch touchscreen display, LED headlights, and heated exterior mirrors. The STI Limited adds navigation, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, blind-spot detection, lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and Recaro sport seats with eight-way power adjustment for the driver. There’s also a limited edition STI White.Series with unique Ceramic White paint, a Bilstein high-performance suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels with a matte bronze finish, and a quick-ratio power steering system.
