The Model S lineup comprises the Long Range and Performance models for 2019, each reviewed separately. The Long Range car is equipped with a 275-hp, 310-lb-ft front electric motor, and a 259-hp, 247-lb-ft rear electric motor - both receiving charge from a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery via a single-speed transmission. The combined power outputs are an impressive 534 hp and 557 lb-ft of torque.
On the inside, the seats of the Model S are upholstered in faux leather appointments while high-quality soft-touch materials adorn all key touchpoints. Infotainment is delivered via a 17-inch capacitive touchscreen tethered to a custom 11-speaker audio system. There’s no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, but instead, full smartphone connectivity, internet access with Google maps providing navigation capabilities, Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming, and two USB ports for charging and connectivity are made available. The Model S is geared with eight standard airbags, an adaptive air suspension, a tire pressure monitor, and electronic stability and traction control. The Autopilot suite is standard and includes the following driver assists: a rearview camera, all-round parking sensors, blind-spot warning, cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
