There was a time when driving a Toyota Camry meant that you were middle-management at a regional accounting firm. That hasn't changed, but the car itself has; the 2020 Toyota Camry, now in its eighth generation, is a four-door midsize sedan for families that holds the title of best-selling sedan for an astonishing 17 years in a row. That's quite the achievement when you consider that it has to run against accomplished competitors such as the Honda Accord and Mazda 6. Under the hood, you'll find a mild 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or a surprisingly eager 3.5-liter V6 gas engine producing 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque in the case of the latter. The Camry is as comfy, affordable, and capable as ever and can actually be a fun daily driver in the right spec.
The 2020 Camry model lineup for the US is mostly unchanged from 2019, except for the new standard addition of Android Auto and a new all-wheel-drive model. A performance-focused TRD also joins the lineup for this year, and we'd be lying if we said we didn't like it. The sporty version gets stiffer springs and a sport-tuned suspension that lowers it just over half an inch. A TRD exhaust is also fitted for a better soundtrack, while the exterior gets an aerodynamic kit.

A review of the 2020 Toyota Camry reveals that it is available with two engine choices in the US, starting with a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine producing between 202 hp and 206 hp depending on trim and drivetrain configuration. This engine is perfect for the daily commute and is powerful enough to get things going on the highway, but the real star of the show is the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. This front-wheel drive vehicle is also available in AWD, and power is sent to the wheels via a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. In TRD spec, the 6-cylinder Camry will do the 0-60 mph sprint in just over five and a half seconds according to independent testing and will reach a top speed of 135 mph.
Once you've test-driven the 2020 Camry sedan, you'll understand why it remains one of the best-selling cars in the USA. The 2020 Camry looks better than ever and offers tons of practicality. In the lower trims, cost-cutting measures are easy to spot but are acceptable considering the price of the 2020 Toyota Camry sedan and do not take away from the overall comfort and refinement of the car. The base 2.5-liter engine won't set the world on fire but gets the job done, and the V6 is surprisingly muscular but suffers at the fuel pumps. On the road, this is a seriously comfortable and composed car, and with a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS under its belt and a host of standard driver assistance features, the Camry is the perfect family sedan. For the family man or woman who still has some warm blood coursing through his veins, the TRD model is surprisingly fun to drive. The Camry remains an excellent choice.
The Camry has traditionally never served to entertain the driver but instead delivers comfort, refinement, safety, and reliability. The good news is that it still does, but it now also provides a bit of spice in the form of the TRD. For those who just want an everyday cruiser, we'd suggest going with the SE, which features tons of safety features and modern comforts such as power-adjustable seats. For those who want a more luxurious experience, the XSE or XLE will do. We'd go with the sporty TRD.
