The Toyota Highlander is offered in six trim levels, all available in FWD or AWD. The V6 engine is replaced by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 265 hp and 310 lb-ft. It sends the power to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
All models come as standard with tri-zone climate control and a touchscreen interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. Base models get cloth seats, while high-end models come with a leather interior and heated seats. Top models have dual 12.3-inch display screens, and the larger touchscreen can be added to the XLE and XSE. All models get Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ as standard comprising pre-collision with pedestrian detection and intersection support, road sign assist, full-speed radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, and automatic high beams.
Packages are only available from the XLE trim and upward. The second-row captain's chairs can be replaced with a standard 40/20/40 bench at no additional cost. Upgrading to the 12.3-inch touchscreen interface will add $735 to your bill. For the XSE, the combination of both the JBL sound system and the 12.3-inch touchscreen will set you back $1,375.
For the Limited, the only major option is the panoramic-view monitor at $850, while the already fully loaded Platinum can be had with a digital rearview mirror for $200.
