2023 Prius Prime Exterior
There's a whole new exterior for the Toyota Prius Prime, now that it's entered its fifth generation. The makeover was extensive, with the Japanese automaker aiming to create a sportier, more elegant aesthetic. This has included a coupe-inspired roofline and sleek silhouette, though the rear has been widened a little to look more seductive. The front fascia has been completely redesigned, with an extremely subtle grille that you might miss if you don't look closely enough. It is paired with equally slim daytime running lights sitting atop a set of bi-LED headlights. The lower bumper has a bright surround. Despite its slightly larger size, the Prius Prime rides lower to the ground, adding to its sportiness. As standard, 17-inch wheels roll in the arches, but these can be upgraded to 19-inch variants. A hands-free tailgate is also added on higher trim levels, along with a fixed glass sunroof. A solar charging roof is an optional extra.

The dimensions of the Toyota Prius Prime have been altered in unusual ways. The wheelbase is a bit longer, now at 108.3 inches, but the overall length is shorter at 181.1 inches. It also measures a little wider, with a width of 70.1 inches (70.2 on the upper trims), but it now rides lower with a height of 55.9 inches (56.3 on the upper trims). Similarly, the SE has 5.6 inches of ground clearance, while the XSE and XSE Premium get an extra 0.4 inches. The starting curb weight of the plug-in hatchback is 3,461 pounds, while the top-spec trim tips the scales at 3,571 lbs.

Exterior Colors
No matter the trim, you get to dress your Toyota Prius Prime in one of six exterior colors. Of these, four are no-cost options and include Cutting Edge, Reservoir Blue, Guardian Gray, and Midnight Black Metallic. Then there are two premium hues that go for $425: Supersonic Red and Wind Chill Pearl. While the red is nice, more subdued shades like Cutting Edge suit the sleek and modern styling of the hybrid.
