The Premium version of the XLE makes more changes than you might expect. Right off the bat, it rides on much more imposing 19-inch alloy wheels, but it also gets a power liftgate for easier access to the cavernous cargo hold and LED foglights. The larger wheels do slightly impact ride quality, but the RAV4 is far from being uncomfortable to begin with. The SofTex leatherette upholstery soft-touch armrests, and stitched accents on the console and dash look and feel smart, and the power moonroof gives a more premium ambiance to the cabin. The driver will feel even more pampered with the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, a big step up from the urethane fare of the lower trims.
