It may be the entry point to the Tacoma line-up, but the SR doesn’t cut back on standard safety, equipping the Toyota Safety Sense group of features including lane departure alert and adaptive cruise control. Instead, it makes do with a basic infotainment system, cloth upholstery, and 16-inch alloy wheels. However, certain hard points are non-negotiable, and the SR still receives the durable composite load bed, as well as available four-wheel-drive, and the choice of upgrading to the more powerful V6. The only real downside is the lack of the long load bed with the crew cab configuration, which is available on other Tacoma trims.
