Though it comes standard with all-LED exterior lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, and several features, the entry-spec Jetta S still proves to be a little too basic to be commendable. It has a 158-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, front-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual transmission, with an eight-speed auto optional. Power accessories are standard, but the urethane steering wheel, manual air-conditioning, and manually adjustable front seats diminish the appeal of the affordable S somewhat. The standard 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen and four-speaker sound system aren't impressive either, though Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included. Cruise control, automatic headlights, pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitoring are the only driver assists.
