In a highly unusual move for VW, the Routan minivan is actually a rebadged Chrysler Town & Country. That isn’t such a bad thing, Chrysler makes a good minivan, but the Routan is actually more than that. The exterior retains the same basic shape of the other vans produced at the same factory, but it has been given some styling tweaks so as to be seen as sufficiently German. The interior has also been given the kind of premium treatment which VW buyers often expect. The problem now is that Chrysler’s van has received a refresh and the Routan is no longer an improvement of the domestic-badged product, and is therefore a bit redundant.
