While the R-Design focuses on sportier aesthetics and handling attributes, the Inscription is more stately in appearance and more luxurious. It rides higher on softer suspension while receiving more subdued paint options and wheel designs. Inside, the Inscription forgoes the R-Design’s sport seats for standard leather-upholstered buckets with heating and ventilation, while featuring wood-look dash inlays and a simpler steering wheel with no paddle-shifters. It boasts all the same equipment as the R-Design, however, including Volvo’s safety features and nine-inch infotainment system.
