Back in 2017, Toyota president Akio Toyoda told his employees to stop building borings cars. We now have sports cars like the Supra and off-road trucks like the TRD-Pro models, so clearly they took the request to heart. Toyota recently sent us a 2019 Corolla Hatchback for an upcoming review and it was delivered in a fabulous shade of blue paint. This got us thinking, what other cool colors does Toyota currently offer? The Japanese automaker has clearly improved its color game, so we have picked our eight favorites that we think prospective buyers should seriously consider.

Blue Flame

Kicking off the list is Blue Flame, the hot blue found on our Corolla tester. The bright hue is also available on the RAV4, where it adds a splash of excitement. Most Corolla and RAV4 buyers will opt for a boring color like white or silver but we hope a few people opt for Blue Flame to help make the road a more colorful place to drive.

Cavalry Blue

Blue Flame isn't the only interesting blue color Toyota has sent us this year. The company also makes a more slate-colored hue known as Cavalry Blue. We were sent a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport with this color but it is also available on other trim levels as well as the Tundra and 4Runner. Cavalry Blue looks tough while also adding a retro flavor.

Ruby Flare Pearl

Toyota added some spice to the Avalon with a shade called Ruby Flare Pearl. This lovely shade of red is also available on the CH-R, Camry, and RAV4, adding a touch of excitement without going overboard. We recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to lose their Toyota in a sea of white and silver parking lots.

Smoked Mesquite

Very few vehicles are able to look good in brown, but the Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition looks very classy with a color called Smoked Mesquite. The dark brown exterior pairs very well with the caramel leather of the 1794 Edition and offers a unique and elegant look not found on many other pickup trucks.

Quicksand

If you're looking for an off-road-themed color, look no further than Quicksand. This flat shade of brown matches the background of a desert, making it perfect for off-road vehicles like the Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner. For those who take their truck off-roading in the sand, this is the perfect hue.

Voodoo Blue

Quicksand may be better suited for off-road vehicles but Toyota's TRD-Pro models also look fantastic in a color called Voodoo Blue. This head-turning shade is only available on the TRD-Pro trim levels of the Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner, making it a rare option.

Nitro Yellow

The 2020 Toyota Supra is available in eight colors but our favorite is Nitro Yellow. This bright shade of yellow helps the Supra stand out even more in a crowd, not that the car's interesting shape needed any help. The Supra Launch Edition also looks great with its red mirror caps but Nitro Yellow is the color we'd pick if we were buying one.

Hakone Green

The Toyota 86 is offered in several interesting colors but the recently-revealed 2020 Hakone Edition is our favorite. Toyota named the Hakone Edition and its Hakone Green paint after the Hakone Turnpike, a fun driving road outside of Tokyo. The stunning green paint is paired with 17-inch bronze wheels, adding a unique flavor to this special edition model.
