1,000-Horsepower 280Z Could Be Fastest Datsun Ever Made

This is the tune job your 16-year-old self dreamed about.

We recently showed you the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe that ADV.1 Wheels president and founder Jordan Swerdloff drives. The wheelmaker has now revealed his new passion project, and it may just impress you more than his souped-up Mercedes. That car was certainly no slouch in the performance department, but this is a 1978 Datsun 280Z, but it’s no ordinary classic. Swerdloff has modified it to push 799 horsepower on the street and over 1,000 horsepower on the track.

To see just how fast the 280Z is now, you'll need to watch it run a quarter mile. Skip to 1:10 to see it in action.

In a blog post on the company’s site the ADV.1 Wheels’ president writes about how his first car was an ’83 280ZX Turbo 2x2. He ended up losing the car but fate brought him another many years (and dollars) later. So basically this 280Z is what would happen if you had unlimited funds to rebuild your first car. What’s awesome is that the version you see here isn’t the final one. The final build will look like the rendering shown here and will make its grand debut at the Festivals of Speed Event held by the Downtown Miami Museum at the end of April.
