It’s competition for this super hot-hatch drag race is an equally extensively modified Golf, a MKII model powered by a VR6 turbo rated at over 900 horses. The lightning fast runs produce quarter-mile times in the high eights/low nines at speeds of 150-175 mph, while the action can be enjoyed from both in and outside the cars.

0-62 mph is clocked at around 2.2 seconds, 0-124 mph in just over 5 secs, and it takes just 8.59 secs to reach 174 mph.
