What do you think of them apples?
Remember the 10,000-hp Dodge Charger? Well, Chevy has just released its own muscle car come rocketship in the form of this 10,000-hp NHRA funny car. So what is a five-digit horsepower car capable of? According to the spec sheet, it will blast from zero to 330 mph in just four seconds. (Take a deep breath). With a body based on the sixth-gen Camaro SS, the funny car comes with a massive front splitter and rear wing, which will presumably help 16-time NHRA champion John Force stay rooted to the tarmac.
Talking of his new ride, Force said: "I started my career in a Chevrolet and I couldn't be more excited to put this new Camaro SS Funny Car on the track. With all the assistance from Chevrolet, it not only looks great, it's designed to perform better than anything we've had before, with a shape that should help us get down the track quicker and with greater stability." In case of engine failure, the Camaro funny car comes with a couple of blow-out panels that, when activated, will relieve underbody pressure and help keep the body attached to the chassis. Which is useful when travelling faster than a speeding bullet.
If you're wondering what the point of this car is, aside from being AWESOME, Force says: "Racing improves the breed and that's why Chevrolet races," said Chevy US vice president, Jim Campbell. "The wins we record on the track help us design better cars customers will buy in the showroom." Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. Isn't that what they say?
