NCE will deliver this unusual product to customers of the mystery businessman.
Newport Convertible Engineering is famous for roof-chop conversion jobs executed on popular models, including the Nissan GT-R and Cadillac ELR we recently told you about. But the company’s most recent convertible conversion is even more unusual: apparently, an anonymous Chinese investor has special-ordered 100 units of this Tesla Model S convertible, which NCE will deliver to customer at its California headquarters, as well as in Dubai and Barcelona.
In addition to the cost of a Model S, the conversion job will cost anywhere between $29,000 and $49,000 for a hard tonneau cover. Newport and its investor are so confident in the convertible’s success, that they have officially asked Tesla to work with them on another 5,000 Model S convertibles, which will cater to international demand. But it seems that Tesla is more focused on their own agenda at the moment.
