Honda is well known for building practical family cars that last forever, and aren't too expensive to buy. Even its performance-orientated models have always been reasonably priced so that younger buyers can get in on the fun without getting into masses of debt. The sporty Civic Si and hardcore Type R enjoy massive popularity and as it turns out, these models are starting to sell for massive prices on the second-hand market.

A 20-year-old Civic Type-R recently sold for an astonishing $70,000, and now a newly posted car on eBay is making some waves as well. This 2003 Honda Civic SiR EP3 is selling for $22,379 out of Canada, which is almost as much as you would pay for a brand new Civic Si.

According to the eBay ad, this car is in immaculate condition and shows only 9,630 miles on the odometer. The seventh-generation Civic SiR EP3 (named the Si in the US) returned to hatchback form after only being available as a coupe in the previous generation. This car adopted the famous K-Series engine platform, more specifically the K20A3 engine used in the Acura RSX, but the performance was mild, with a power output of only 160 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Performance figures indicate a zero to sixty time of around 7.5 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 15.9 seconds. The car advertised has had only one owner in the last 17 years, and according to the ad has never been modified or driven during winter months.

To make the deal even sweeter, the seller also claims that the car has never been in an accident, has a clean title, clean Carfax report, and has been in a garage all year round. This Civic SiR comes with three original keys plus two remotes and has had all its fluids changed at a Honda dealership. Even the original tires are available upon request. The car is located in Quebec, Canada, and with an asking price of $22,379, that's only $2,821 short of a brand-new Civic Si Sedan.
