What you are looking at is a legend, BMW's greatest prewar racecar. The creases along the tops of the fenders earned the 1937 Mille Miglia the nickname "Buegelfalte", which means "trouser crease". The Buegelfalte has an aluminum titanium alloy body and frame, something almost unheard of in 1937. It raced in such venerable races as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Mille Miglia between 1937 and 1940. Racing in Europe was stopped in 1940 for obvious reasons.

The Buegelfalte spent the next few years in the possession of a Nazi party official until the Russians took it as a trophy at the end of WWII. It made its way to Latvia and then came back to Munich in 1991 when the Berlin Wall came down. BMW did a resoration and it was bought by its current owner in New Jersey in 2001. It is valued at $6 million.
