1956 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing Crashes at Mille Miglia

Gets hit head-on by a BMW 1-Series.

An automotive tragedy occurred this Saturday at the MilleMiglia, the very event which celebrates some of the finest and best-preserved antique cars ondisplay today. A Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing worth 800,000 Euros and driven bytwo brothers – heirs to the Sixt rental car fortune – was hit head on by aspeeding BMW 1-Series. The brothers escaped with light injuries, but theblack-on-red 1956 Mercedes suffered extensive damage which will be quiteimpossible to repair.
