1960 Maserati Birdcage Up For Auction

Race Track

In August, the Mecum Monterey Auction will include a very special 1960 Maserati Tipo 61/60 "Birdcage" racer. Chassis #2459 ran at Sebring in 1960, and comes complete with restoration and FIA documentation. The Birdcage's DOHC 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual Weber carburetors was a sophisticated design, befitting a racer wearing a trident badge. The car also has a five-speed manual and disc brakes on all four wheels. Expect it go for quite a sum.
