There was a time when cars weren’t really all that safe. Yes, safety in principal was important but features such as air bags, ABS brakes and plastic dashboard padding simply didn’t exist. Instead there were drum brakes that gave cars pretty long stopping distances, and metal and wood center consoles that would do a number on the human skull when those brakes failed to stop the car in time. But still, there’s something charming and even nostalgic about those near deathtraps.
One such example is this 1966 Dodge Coronet. Unlike countless other old cars, this one hasn’t been turned into a hot rod or given any sort of wheel/brake update. It’s amazing people survived any sort of car crashes back in the day.
