2 Reasons Why Jaguar Considered Reviving The C-X75 And 1 Reason Why It Ultimately Didn't

Concepts

Still the greatest car Jaguar never built.

Although it dates back to 2010, the Jaguar C-X75 concept still remains popular. So popular, in fact, that it’ll be featured in the upcoming James Bond flick, "Spectre", this November. It most recently appeared at Frankfurt posing with actress Naomie Harris (Moneypenny). Not bad for a five-year-old concept that was once confirmed for production but later cancelled due to the global economic crisis. But Jaguar briefly reconsidered reviving the project as a limited-run fun toy of a supercar. Why? Two reasons:

Its villain car appearance in Bond, and as a celebration of Jaguar’s 80th anniversary, according to JLR head of Special Vehicle Operations, John Edwards, in an interview with Autocar. Jaguar thought that, say, 80 examples, would be a nice thing to have out there to mark the big occasion. But once again it opted not to, and here’s why: despite being too old, it would be "a distraction to the core new model launches."
