Buick is set to launch two new 2012 Regal models. One is the fuel-efficient and eco-friendly hybrid Regal eAssist, the second is the high performance Regal GS. The Regal GS boasts 270hp and 295lb-ft of torque from its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. This trim will feature a six-speed manual transmission and eventually carry an optional six-speed automatic. Regal with eAssist uses a variety of advanced technologies to deliver 25mpg in the city and 36mpg on the highway.

"Regal with eAssist and Regal GS offer distinct advantages to midsize luxury sport sedan customers," said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. "The eAssist's advanced technology delivers the most fuel-efficient option, while the high-output GS is the sportiest expression of Regal to date." The 2012 Regeal eAssist will price at $29,530. The standard Regal will carry a $2,000 eAssist option. It will still be offered with the standard 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated engine and the 2.0-liter turbocharged motor. The top-of-the-line Regal GS will price at $35,310. Both trims include $860 in destination charges.
