American automaker Chevrolet has been trying hard to keep interest up for its aging Impala. Its replacement isn't due to hit the market for another 2-3 years and potential Impala buyers need to be satisfied right now. The major change here takes place under the hood. Chevrolet's latest updates to the Impala include a 3.6-liter V6 with direct-injection technology and E85 Flex-fuel capability. It's mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

There are no indications yet of performance numbers, but it has been reported that we could be looking at an output of around 302hp. Styling-wise, there are a few minor adjustments up front to the fog light surrounds, new mesh grille and 16-inch alloy wheels. Chevrolet is hoping these changes will be enough to buy them some time before an all-new Impala arrives, which reportedly share a platform with the upcoming Cadillac XTS. There is no pricing available for the 2012 model as of yet.
