On the heels of the 2012 Fiat Panda's unveiling and news that it will make its debut next month in Germany, the Italian automaker has announced they will bring their new Punto along for the ride as well. The new Punto will feature the new Fiat two-cylinder 85 HP TwinAir engine that recently won the prestigious title of "International Engine of the Year 2011." The car is meant to blend the 'perfect balance between eco-friendliness (98 g/km CO2) and driving pleasure (85 HP, 107lb-ft of torque).'

A stop-start system is featured on both the aforementioned TwinAir engine and the optional 1.3-liter MultiJet engine. Two driving modes are equipped on the 2012 Fiat Punto. An Eco drive allows the car to run on reduced fuel consumption through a specific calibration of engine controls. A normal mode allows the Punto to run...normally. Fiat has given their new Punto a set of 17-inch wheels for a fresher look and a clean, bright green paint job. Three trims are available, including the Pop, Lounge and Easy. Each allows a new set of wheels, body color and some varying accoutrements.

The 2012 Fiat Punto is set to debut in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The new Punto will join the Fiat Freemont all-wheel drive (AWD), Fiat 500 TwinAir and the Fiat Qubo Trekking.
